Administration:Judgments/2024-08-23/Akif stealing from lost and found

From 1F616EMO Survival Server Wiki

Previous similar case: eok stealing from lost and found

Assigned: HelenasaurusRex

Involved: __Akif

On 2024-08-22 at 22:18 UTC+8, I (HelenasaurusRex) caught __Akif (Akif) facing the Lost & Found chest at the spawn technic station, I right-clicked this chest when I saw what looked like ingots disappear, I told Akif to put these back, that they don't believe to them, Akif didn't respond, and proceeded into the public factory, when he reached the sub-station, I asked him to drop the ingots, but again, I was ignored, so I shut the doors on them, and took away his interact privileges, and kept asking them. They took zero effort to try and interact with me what so ever. Eventually, a 2 day ban was issued.

Athene put two stacks of tin dust into the two HV furnaces on 2024-08-22 at 09:39:42 and 09:39:59. The resulting tin ingots were moved to the lost & found chest on 2024-08-22 at 19:26:57 by 1F616EMO.

On 2024-08-22 at 22:25:03, __Akif took the two stacks of tin ingot out of the lost & found chest. HelenasaurusRex warned them at 22:25:25. Getting no response, she revoked interact from __Akif at 22:26:13. Attempting to interact but doing nothing in response to the warning, __Akif was banned at 22:29:39, using the built-in ban system which always bans players indefinitely.

HelenasaurusRex reported the case to 1F616EMO at 22:34:06. 1F616EMO replaced the indefinite ban with a temporary two-day ban at 09:09:52.

The following actions should be taken:

  1. __Akif should be banned for one day, counting since the first ban, overriding any previous ban.
  2. The two stacks of tin ingots found inside __Akif's inventory should be returned to Athene.
  3. A warning sign should be set up around the lost & found chest stating that it is not a charity chest.
  4. The /ban command should be disabled to prevent moderators from issuing the wrong ban.

This judgement is based on the following interpretation to the rules:

  1. Any property found in Lost & Found chests, public machines, or any kind of public storage are still property of the owner unless it is explicitly marked so a reasonable person would understand it as ceasing ownership.
